It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a side that has achieved everything.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if never given the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her debut and seven world titles have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fail again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Many contend the case for the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a challenging time because I feel like I lacked timing at all," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and after that Healy was on her way.

"An opportunity to take the field and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was out Australia needed 66 more at run per delivery - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the belief to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we believe we can achieve it."

These statements will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this tournament should hear.

In recent days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this triumph succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a significant event.

So great is her will, she later said she regretted not playing despite the injury.

But while she later admitted those fitness problems have postponed plans to retire, this World Cup is anticipated as her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as leader.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
