Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Table

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within the urban setting.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of heroes who will separate from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.

This warrior group includes the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem out of place, but the actions of episode 3 show why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his own means, entering the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each member has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires vengeance.
  • Kattigan knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty location.
  • The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could help the team reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This results in them little choice but to head to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.

What’s Next?

According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to form the Seekers and Strategists groups.

Audiences can anticipate discovering which characters will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
